Description

Would you like to support a team of professionals who make a positive impact on society by offering a range of unique and personalised life-changing interventions for the lives of our SWITCH project vulnerable women in the Tees Valley area.

The SWITCH (Supporting Women in the Community and Home) project assists vulnerable women aged 16 and older who face a range of health, social, financial, educational or housing needs with comprehensive, packages of support to enable them to regain positive control of their lives.

Our volunteer programme provides a relaxed way in which women from all walks of life can access help and support regarding any issues they are facing.

We are looking for inspirational female volunteers to provide our service users with the advice and support they need to build a more positive future. Ways you will could be supporting include; being a positive role model, a listening ear, identifying areas of difficulty and agreeing key milestones, helping access to social, education, work experience or employment opportunities, finding voluntary work or other hands-on experience as a stepping stone to getting a job, putting together a CV and preparing for job interviews, accompanying to various appointments e.g. housing, doctors or agency in support, helping to read or create letters and make phone calls, participate in our weekly wellbeing group activities including socialise with SWITCH, FLASH (fitness focused), self defence, crafts, cooking, baking days and trips out.

This opportunity will assist you in gaining the following skills:

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

3 Day accredited Level 2 Developing Mentoring Skills qualification. This involves getting to know the project and how we work, covering policies and procedures you must adhere too.

E-learning on safeguarding, professional boundaries, lone working and various other relevant courses inline with the working role.

Opportunity to get involved in various one off training sessions we put on for our ladies including first aid, child first aid, food hygiene, make up master class, mental health awareness etc.

One to one development sessions with a mentor co-coordinator plus on hand support throughout your volunteering journey.

Desirable: The ability to establish supportive relationships with service users, to deliver practical and non-judgemental support.
