Our latest Do Good, Feel Good event was joining the amazing Friends of Linthorpe Cemetery and Nature Reserve. As soon as we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. Each friend of the cemetery took the time to chat to us and tell us a little bit about themselves. What really shone through was the passion and dedication of all the volunteers who work so hard to make the cemetery and nature reserve a truly special place that can be enjoyed by all.
We joined the group and took part in a clean-up. We certainly got our steps in on what is the largest piece of mature woodland in central Middlesbrough! The volunteers are so knowledgeable about the area and working hard to ensure that biodiversity thrives.
Knowing we were helping to maintain an area where people get much comfort felt like we were really giving back to the community. Volunteering provides so many benefits. It was lovely to witness the community impact, increased self-esteem and confidence along with improved mental and physical health.
The Friends of Linthorpe Cemetery are not on the Volun-tees platform, however, do not let that stop you from reaching out if you would like to get involved. Did you know, you can still record your hours on the Volun-tees platform even if an organisation has not registered. This is to ensure that students and graduates who are volunteering can still work towards their volunteering certificates of recognition.
