Since October, student volunteers have faithfully given up their time to run an After School Club for children age 4 - 11 in Linthorpe. On a weekly basis, 7 families access the club and countless individuals have also visited or dropped in. This club is free and offers the children and their families a safe and fun place to relax, play, and build relationships within their local community. The club is ran by a church and has a value (love, respect or honour) woven into a craft each week, with origami, sandwich making, and biscuit decorating to name a few. There are also areas for colouring, games, lego, construction, football and ping pong!
Without our volunteers, Karam, Varma, Shiqi, Victoria and others, this club just could not run.
- Karam is a very conscientious and punctual helper. He comes to set up and stays until everything is tidied away again. He is also a dab hand with the lego!
- Varma has such a servant heart, he's always willing to help with every job and is particularly good at engaging those who are on their own.
- Shiqi has such a warm heart and always a smile! She goes the extra mile, helping with any and every job. She has been our craft leader and taught us all origami.
- Victoria goes over and above every time and always helps set up and tidy away once everyone has gone. She is very good at building relationships with the younger children and looks after them beautifully.
We have been so blessed by the volunteers who have helped with this After School Club and cannot praise or thank them enough for the hours they have given up! If you’re able to give up a few hours on a Wednesday to help with a club and have a heart for children, we’d love to hear from you.
