I volunteer as a committee member in the Students’ Union because I’m passionate about animation and loved helping other students in any way I can.

Part of my role involves listening to students, preparing an agenda, booking a room, engaging with the students, arranging activities and much more.   I really enjoyed helping students apply what they learned at uni and work in teams.  They found it fun, they got to network with other students and share knowledge and they practiced what they learned and loved doing in team environment which is a great preparation for the industry in a casual stress free setup.

I have developed a lot of transferable skills including communication, humility, team work, leadership, organisation and coordination skills and much more. 

My advice to anyone wanting to volunteer - Do what you’re passionate about.  You develop a lot of transferable skills that help you in interviews and to prepared you for the workplace.  I’ve gained so much through volunteering - Communication, organisation skills, leadership, time management and a lot more. In the future I hope to run my own successful animation studio.
