A range of organisations are attending the volunteering fair to promote their volunteering opportunities and also talk about the services that they provide to the local community.  Why not come along and find out more about how you can get involved.  There are some great opportunities available and the organisations can tell you more about the great work that they do.

Tees Valley Wildlife Trust

The Trust has worked for more than 40 years to protect wildlife and wild places, and educate, influence and empower people. We are led by a voluntary Council of Management with day-to-day management and activity being delivered by a staff team.Volunteers make a valuable contribution to delivery through varied practical and administrative activities, including but not limited to practical conservation, surveying and monitoring, and workshop maintenance.

My Sisters Place

"My Sister's Place supports people in Middlesbrough who have been affected by domestic abuse. Domestic abuse is a largely hidden crime, occurring primarily at home. It is a crime which disproportionately affects women and they often don’t report or disclose domestic abuse due to fear of not being believed. We are looking for volunteers to help raise awareness of this in their communities and we provide free training and support for them to do this. We are also looking for community volunteers to help out with events, fundraising and campaigning.

Fare Share

FareShare North East aims to address the issues of hunger and food waste by redistributing surplus food to local organisations across the North East. These organisations support vulnerable people in some way. The food is then transformed into delicious hot and cold meals or snacks for people who need it most. For the organisations we work with, getting food from FareShare North East is a much needed resource. Not only does the food help support their beneficiaries, but they are able to reinvest the money they save on food into providing more essential services. This includes delivering advice, guidance, mentoring or holding more social activities.

FoodCycle

We’re running our community meals in towns and cities across the country, where volunteers turn surplus food into wholesome, nutritious meals.   Anyone, from any walk of life, is welcome, no questions asked.  Our many thousands of skilled, trained and dedicated volunteers help FoodCycle support those in need and we have plenty of ways you can get involved – from cooking, hosting or collecting our food – we’d love you to join the FoodCycle family. 

Nitelight CIC

To provide aid, help and strengthen communities by introducing a range of new physical projects and new digital technology to support the community. Nitelightcic work with individuals, families and local communities to help change lives, improve peoples health and raise awareness. More importantly with this day and age, to help reduce stress and anxiety of finding their next meal.
