Meet the Volun-tees Team!!
Happy November! We are now more than halfway through the 1st semester of the academic year 2023-24 and heading rapidly towards the Christmas Break. We hope all is going well for you?
We have had a very busy start to the academic year, and have had an amazing number of new volunteers signing up to Volun-tees, which is great news, and have met a lots of our lovely volunteers, both new and old around campus at Volunteering Fairs, on–campus events, in-curriculum sessions, appointments and drop-in’s, however, for those of you we are yet to meet, we would like to introduce ourselves to you.
Jayne Golden – Volunteer Project Co-ordinator
Jayne has been the Volunteer Co-ordinator for many years now (too many to remember!) and has built up a strong relationship with local voluntary organisations/community groups. Jayne’s role is to develop a wide range of volunteering roles for you to take part in, which may involve developing skills around your academic studies or social activities to enable you to give something back to the local community. A key role for Jayne is ensuring you receive recognition for your volunteering through the Volunteering Awards which will be presented at the Volun-cheers ceremony in May. This is a great evening to celebrate your amazing achievements and be even more inspired to volunteer.
Angela Wood – Volunteering and Work Experience Officer
Angela has recently moved from the Work Experience and Placements Team so some of you may already recognise and know her through work experience, 12-month placements and Advanced Practice Internships. Angela is the student facing member of the team so if you are having difficulty creating your Volun-tees profile, require advice and guidance regarding sourcing volunteering opportunities or need assistance finding a work experience opportunity as part of an undergraduate assessed module, then Angela can assist you with this and she is available for appointments on site and on MS Teams. If Angela hasn’t met you yet, then she is looking forward to meeting you during the academic year 2023-24.
