Join Table Talk Café as a volunteer and help create a welcoming space for students. Share conversations, listen, and build community while serving drinks and offering friendship to those who may feel lonely.

What You'll Do:

As a Café Volunteer based at Teesside University (Student Life Building) at Table Talk, you’ll:

  •     Prepare and serve drinks to students
  •     Welcome students as they arrive
  •     Chat with and listen to them, helping reduce loneliness
  •     Keep the café space clean and tidy

We’re looking for friendly, welcoming team players who can listen well and serve weekly or fortnightly.

Why You'll Love It:
Meaningful connections: You’ll meet students from a wide variety of backgrounds and hear their stories. Making a difference: By offering friendship and a listening ear, you’ll help reduce loneliness and support students’ wellbeing. Warm community: You’ll serve as part of a team, making friends with other volunteers too. Personal growth: Your listening and conversational skills will grow naturally, along with confidence in welcoming new people. Flexible serving: Weekly or fortnightly shifts fit around your studies or other commitments. Positive atmosphere: The café is a fun, relaxed, and lively environment to spend time in.
What You'll Learn:
As a Café Volunteer at Table Talk, you’ll develop valuable skills in listening, conversation, and teamwork. You’ll grow in confidence as you welcome new people, build connections across cultures, and learn how to create a warm, inclusive community.
What We're Looking For:
We’re looking for friendly, welcoming people who enjoy chatting and listening to others. If you’re a good team player, open to meeting students from all backgrounds, and can commit weekly or fortnightly, we’d love to have you on the team.
