    Location:  Teesside Hospice

    Time Requirement:  4 Hours at a time, between Monday and Sunday between 9am and 5pm. The team are particularly seeking help on a weekend.

    Role Summary: As a Meet and Greet Volunteer, you’ll be the welcoming face of Teesside Hospice, offering warmth and reassurance to patients, families, visitors, and professionals as they arrive. Your presence helps create a friendly and supportive environment, ensuring everyone feels comfortable, cared for, and valued from the moment they step through our doors.

     

  • Main Duties:
  • Provide a warm, approachable, and respectful welcome to all visitors, patients, and families.
  • Offer guidance and directions within the hospice (e.g., sign-in procedures, waiting areas, or key contacts).
  • Support visitors in signing in and out, following hospice procedures to ensure safety and confidentiality.
  • Notify relevant staff members promptly when visitors or deliveries arrive.
  • Offer refreshments to patients, families, and visitors where appropriate.
  • Keep the reception area clean, tidy, and welcoming at all times.
  • Respond politely to enquiries, signposting to the correct person or department as needed.
  • Answer telephone calls courteously, taking messages for the nursing team when required.
  • Always uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compassion.
  • Attend training sessions and supervision as required to support your role.
  • Check in with senior nurse on duty before and after volunteer session
  • Inform line manager if unable to attend a volunteer session as soon as possible
  • Training requirements:

     

  • As a Meet & Greet Volunteer you will complete the following training:
  • Teesside Hospice mandatory training
  • Volunteer induction training
  • Any other training identified as appropriate to the role
  •  
  • Support and supervision:
  • Your first line of support and for any enquiries will be Line Manager to support you in your role.

    Ongoing support and supervision are available to ensure volunteers feel confident and valued in their role.

     

  • Communications:

    The line manager will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

    You will be provided with a Teesside Hospice volunteer badge
