Do Good, Feel Good, Tree Planting Day 02.12.2025

What You'll Do:

Do Good, Feel Good, and help make a difference for the planet, wildlife, and local communities.

Join the Volunteering Team on Tuesday 2nd December for a day of tree and hedge planting at Spell Close Liveries, Spell Close Farm in Yarm.

We’ll set off from campus at 10:00am by minibus and spend the day outdoors planting trees and hedges—there are plenty to get in the ground! It’s a fantastic chance to enjoy the fresh air, meet like-minded people, and take part in something that really matters.

We’ll take a break around 12:30pm for lunch. Please bring your own packed lunch, though there will be tea and coffee facilities available, and a small café nearby if you’d prefer to buy something.

After lunch, we’ll get back to planting until around 2:15pm, ready for the minibus to collect us at 2:30pm and return to campus for about 3:00pm.

All tools and gloves will be provided, but please make sure to wear wellies or sturdy boots and bring plenty of warm layers, it can get muddy and chilly out on the farm! If the weather is particularly bad, we may need to cancel, but The Conservation Volunteers usually brave the elements to get the important job of tree planting done.

The site is a working farm, so there will be animals around.

You’ll be supported throughout the day by Lindsey from the Volunteering Team, along with Ali and Cameron from The Conservation Volunteers.

It’s a great opportunity to get outdoors, make a real difference, and end the day knowing you’ve done something good for the planet.

Why You'll Love It:
Lasting impact - Each tree we plant will contribute to cleaner air.   Stress relief - Spending time outdoors and doing physical work in nature can calm your mind and improve your mood.   We will be working as part of a team.
What You'll Learn:
Tree planting fosters teamwork and community spirit, especially when done in groups, showing how our collective efforts will lead to a greater impact.    You will learn about the important work of The Conservation Volunteers.   Build up your networks.
What We're Looking For:
Committment to the day.  A hands on approach and not afraid to get stuck in.  Teamwork and positivity. The day will be physical so a good level of fitness will be required.
