Rubies works with girls in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland to help them increase self-esteem, build resilience and stay safe. SUITABLE FOR WE MODULE

What You'll Do:

We are looking for volunteers to support with weekly sessions. We have set up a new weekly Girls Group for secondary school age girls to provide confidence-building activities. The Girls Group runs once a week after school and involves food, crafts, confidence-building activities and age appropriate input around the issues girls are facing. It would be helpful if volunteers have some general knowledge around issues such as self-esteem, mental health, personal and online safety but training will also be given.

Why You'll Love It:
We know that our work makes a huge difference for vulnerable girls and want to reach many more with the message that they are valued and have potential. If you'd like to find out more, please get in touch!
What You'll Learn:
Rubies provides lots of in-house and external training to assist volunteers with supporting girls. Training courses may include safeguarding, listening skills, trauma, mental health issues and much more. By getting involved with young poeple, volunteers also learn about their own strengths and motivations and how a small committment can make a huge difference. We're always open to learning from our volunteers and from the girls themselves...
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for reliable, consistent,  compassionate people who understand the value of relationships when working with young people.
