This is an opportunity to make a new friend in the refugee/asylum seeker community. HostNation is a new scheme on the North East bringing local people and refugees together 1 to 1, to encourage friendship and alleviate loneliness.

What You'll Do: 

 

Meet up with a refugee or asylum seeker once a week or once every couple of weeks, for a coffee, a walk in the park, a shared pastime etc. The commitment is for an initial 3 months.

What You'll Learn: 
About other cultures and interests, how to make a connection with someone from a different background, encouraging their English, possibly sharing language and other knowledge.

Anyone with a friendly and positive attitude who wants to offer the hand of friendship to a refugee or asylum seeker.
