Support older people to get more from their community!

What You'll Do:

Our community services team of dedicated staff and volunteers help isolated older people to re-build a fulfilling and independent social life and reduce feelings of loneliness.

We are focussed on connecting people aged 65+ in Middlesbrough with other people with similar interests and experiences. This includes connecting people with our own friendly volunteers; activities in their own communities and other local services that can be of help.

You can be matched one to one with an older person, or be part of a weekly group. You can help with gardening in the community or facilitate our new telephone groups. If you like to arrange events or drive you could support those as well!

Whatever it is that you are passionate about we can work together to try to make positive changes for older people in Middlesbrough.

Why You'll Love It:
Our overall aim is for people to feel better connected both socially and to other forms of practical help, information and advice. You will be an integral part of this and feel the reward of making someones life a little easier and more positive. We are an inclusive charity and welcome ideas and suggestions to help us engage marginalised older people.
What You'll Learn:
You'll learn to communicate on all levels, with the community, professionals and other stakeholders. You will learn to actively listen and work alongside people who may be vulnerable. You will also learn key values that underpin the charity sector and how they inform the work we do.
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for people who are flexible, adaptable and keen to make a difference. You will be great at timekeeping and able to commit to a set volunteer pattern (eg, weekly visits, groups etc) for a set period of time (agreed at point of onboarding).
