Support people living with dementia to engage in meaningful group activities. Help create a welcoming, inclusive environment through social connection, conversation, and creativity.
As a Dementia Activity Group Volunteer, you will help deliver structured group sessions for people living with dementia in community settings. Your role will involve:
- Greeting attendees warmly and helping them settle in
- Offering drinks and friendly conversation
- Supporting group members to participate in activities
- Encouraging inclusion, especially for those who may be quieter or need extra reassurance
- Leading a small activity or helping with themed sessions, if interested
- Assisting with general session tasks, such as taking the register
- Occasionally supporting carers with a listening ear or feeding back any concerns to the team
Each session is designed around Cognitive Stimulation Therapy principles and aims to provide mental stimulation, social engagement, and joy.
