Volunteer adviser for Citizens Advice in Redcar.

What You'll Do: 

Our Volunteer Advisers talk to clients face to face, over the phone or by email.  They find out what the client’s problem is and explore the options available to sort it out.  Advisers explain to the client what options they have so that the client can find a way forward.   They may also give practical help such as completing forms, writing letters or making telephone calls.  They finish by writing up a summary of the clients’ problem and what action they have taken. There will always be a supervisor present for help and guidance, and you will be part of our lovely team of volunteers.

Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face. You will be helping clients to find a way forward witha wide variety of issues including problems with benefits,  debts and consumer issues.
What You'll Learn: 
Full training on a wide range of issues is given. This is online and can be completed at your own pace.
What We're Looking For: 
have experience in an advice or advocacy role be friendly and approachable be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own have good listening skills have excellent verbal and written communication skills have good maths and IT skills be able to understand information and explain it to others be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake ongoing training  to ensure your knowledge in your role is kept up to date
