Are you a mature student looking to support your psychology or counselling course? The Junction Foundation, a respected charity known for empowering young people and transforming lives, seeks students to support our volunteering programme.

What You'll Do:
  • Supporting the Pathways to Wellness Team including one to one support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people aged 5 to 25 who have emotional well- being difficulties and mental ill health.
  • Carrying out assessments and developing plans for support as appropriate including signposting to other services
  • Implementing programmes of emotional wellbeing support with children and young people, setting appropriate goals for progression alongside the children, young people and their families and utilising appropriate routine outcome measures to demonstrate outcomes.
  • Liaising with The Pathways to Wellness Team, other services within The Junction and a range of community groups to effectively plan for children and young people’s progression into community and social activities at the end of therapeutic interventions and providing support to aide children’s and young people’s successful engagement.
Why You'll Love It:
We're a vibrant charity, empowering children, young people, and their families in Tees Valley. We believe in building trust, self-belief, and a sense of belonging through positive relationships and meaningful participation. We're proud of our reputation for championing children and young people's voices and driving positive change through social action.    This is a great opportunity for students to become part of the Pathways to Wellness Team, to learn from experienced practioners and support vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people with emotional and mental ill health to rise above life’s challenges, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes.      The following film was made by practioners and young people accessing services from the Pathways to Wellness Team https://www.facebook.com/TheJunctionFoundation/videos/i-thrive-story/852175623164672?locale=en_GB
What You'll Learn:
This is an excellent opportunity to develop psychology and counselling skills through 1:1 emotional well-being casework that can help to access employment in working with children, young people and families.
What We're Looking For:
Our vision is a world where no child, young person or family is left to struggle, we are looking for students who share this vision and want to get involved in making it happen!    The support and successful involvement of volunteers within our activities has benefits to the organisation in being able to better support delivery of our service to children, young people and families, however, to support successful volunteering opportunities this also has a significant financial and resource investment from us therefore our expectations of volunteers are:  It is clear from the outset the time period that volunteers can commit to and where possible this is honoured.  Meet agreed expectations of the role.  If your plans for volunteering change, to let us know  Attend support, supervision and training required for the role.  That volunteering expense claims should be made promptly.   All volunteers familiarise themselves, and adhere to, our key policies around Volunteering, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Information Security
