We're looking for volunteers to support PAPYRUS in raising awareness of suicide prevention and the work we do, e.g. our helpline, HOPELINE247. Volunteers will be expected to raise awareness in their own local community e.g. Teeside Uni/Stockton

What You'll Do:

Volunteers raise awareness of suicide prevention and PAPYRUS in a few different ways and we are looking for volunteers who can help with the following:

  • Deliver presentations to people in your community, such as schools, workplaces, and faith groups. These are 30-minute sessions called SPARK: Suicide Prevention – Awareness, Resource, Knowledge
  • Attend events and run stalls such as Pride, county fairs, wellbeing days, University freshers’ fairs, and fundraising events.
  • Write blogs posts and get involved on social media about your lived experiences of suicide and mental health.
  • Help us to reach your communities by connecting us with groups and organisations you care about.
  • Share new ideas: we’re always open to new opportunities to make our communities suicide-safer.

Volunteers spend time helping us and it’s important that we provide you with the right support, training, and opportunities to meet others.

You will get:

  • Suicide prevention training (including our SPEAK training: Suicide Prevention – Explore, Ask, Keep safe)
  • Regular check ins with your regional Volunteer Coordinator or another PAPYRUS representative.
  • Flexible volunteering opportunities – choose the events that suit you!
  • Expenses for travel and food (these can be claimed weekly).
  • Opportunities to meet other volunteers in person and online.
  • Recognition, certificates, and a Huge Thank You!

To continue on to apply for a volunteer role with PAPYRUS, please register through http://englandnorth.papyrus.volunteerhub.com/

Why You'll Love It:
You'll be able to attend a range of events (including Pride, freshers fairs, wellbeing days, etc.), meeting lots of new people and developing your communication skills
What You'll Learn:
You will receive suicide prevention training, giving you skills and knowledge in how to support someone who might be struggling with these thoughts. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your communication skills, both talking to individuals and delivering presentations
What We're Looking For:
Anyone with a passion for suicide prevention and mental health. You don't need to have lots of experience, just an interest in wanting to help
