We are a charity that harnesses the transformative power of play and exercise to help vulnerable children recover from complex trauma. Our goal is to nurture the confidence of every child we work with and develop valuable life skills to help them reach their full potential.
Champions Club aims to improve and champion the academic performance of the children that Solidarity Sports serves, typically from disadvantaged backgrounds, by supporting their aspirations and unlocking their potential. Through mentoring, tutoring, and consistent guidance, volunteers can play a pivotal role in providing these children with an equitable chance to excel not only in their school studies but also in their broader educational journeys. By signing up, you can make a meaningful impact in empowering young learners to reach their academic goals and build a brighter future.
As a volunteer, you will be supporting our children at Champion Club after school during term time every Tuesday 3:15-5:30pm, helping children with ongoing learning and homework. Each session, lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours, will be delivered once a week to individual students. As the programme progresses, additional days may be introduced to provide further support based on the children's needs.
Sessions will be divided into three segments, alternating between play and learning, ensuring a balance of fun and education. Volunteers will guide children through activities tailored to their academic needs, focusing on literacy or numeracy, while creating an engaging and supportive environment for their development.
All volunteers will be DBS checked before volunteering.
