Crossing the Tees Book Festival returns for its twelfth year in June 2025 in libraries across the Tees Valley. The festival includes author events, writing and poetry workshops. Volunteers' skills, experience and time help us achieve our aims.

What You'll Do:
  • Welcoming and guiding attendees
  • Welcoming authors, artists and performers
  • Serving refreshments including alcohol (over 18s only)
  • Helping to set up and take down event spaces
  • Collecting event evaluation data

Volunteers can specify which events and venues they would like to cover. We will share programme information nearer the event.

If you have any accessibility requirements please let us know and we will be happy to tailor the volunteering opportunity to suit you.

Why You'll Love It:
You'll have fun, meet new people and be part of a team! You'll learn about event management, develop great customer service skills, discover new writers and performers and be at the heart of the Festival. You can attend events free of charge. You'll be helping others have a great time and make the festival a success. You'll connect with and support your community. You'll gain confidence, learn about different career opportunities, and enhance your CV. We can pay your travel expenses, and you'll receive a meal or a meal voucher up to £10 when you volunteer for a full day or evening shift.
What You'll Learn:
Once you've signed up to be part of Tees Valley Festivals Volunteering you will receive training in Customer Service, Health & Safety, Inclusivity & Accessibility, and Carbon Literacy. You can also get involved in some exciting creative community art and music workshops which will be running across the Tees Valley. And you can earn, and take part in our wonderful Badge Skills Award Programme.
