Roseberry Community provides education, support, and outreach activities to disadvantaged groups of young people across the Tees Valley region. We focus on music, singing and dancing, keep fit, neurodiversity, anti-bullying techniques, martial arts and an alternative provision for children/young people who are either not in a mainstream school or are struggling in a classroom environment.
We have over 200 young people and children every month joining our activities and session. These include the following
• StarmakerZ: Free music workshops in dancing, singing, learning musical instruments and music tuition aimed at disadvantaged children and young people aged 4 to 18 years old every Saturday, 12pm to 2pm
• StarmakerZ Music Collective: Celebrating neurodiversity and diversity through a weekly choir every Monday, 5pm to 7pm
• Self -defence classes: Teaching anti bullying avoidance techniques through martial art sfor young people, running every Saturday, 10am to 12pm
• Neuro Network: Arranging activities for children and young people with neurodiverse conditions every Saturday, 10am to 12pm
All our activities take place at our centre at Laurel House, 74-82 Skinner Street, Stockton on Tees, TS18 1EG.
As passionate Teessiders, we have the knowledge and understanding of the key issues affecting young people based on personal experiences. There are negative perceptions and attitudes towards our local towns such as Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough, problems of economic and social deprivation are reported amongst young people in the region. The charity seeks to change views and perceptions of young people in the Tees Valley region by promoting a positive image.
There are high levels of poverty in our region. We have found many marginalised young people have become disconnected from education, and the wider community, or who feel isolated through cultural and social barriers.
We looking for volunteers who can give time to help and support running the charity.
