ABOUT US:

The Darlington and District Branch is committed to improving the welfare of animals in the local area. We aim to educate the public about responsible pet ownership and having a compassionate attitude to all animals. We want to improve and make a difference to the lives of local animals through education and promoting the branch in the community. Our branch is run by a committee of locally elected volunteers who are responsible for the management and administration of the branch's affairs.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

The area the branch covers is large. It includes Darlington, Reeth, Muker, Barnard Castle, Stanley, Crook, Bishop Auckland, Richmond, Catterick and all the villages in between. We work closely with RSPCA Inspectors to provide direct animal welfare services in these areas. This includes veterinary care to animals which the RSPCA Inspectors have rescued from harm.

OUR VALUES:
The Five Animal Welfare Needs the RSPCA promotes: Animals need a suitable and healthy diet, Animals need an appropriate environment. They need to be protected from pain, injury, disease and suffering. They need to exhibit normal behaviour and lastly, animals need the right company.
THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
As a branch of volunteers we are proud to offer the community some assistance with vet bills on a case by case basis, mostly with cat neutering. We raise funds and animal food regularly by being involved with quarterly community events (ie. Pets at Home, dog walks, Book stalls, Tombolas). The money we raise provides care to local animals in the community, domestic and wild. We educate the public through presentations and fund raising events as well as promotion the branch on social media - Facebook and Twitter - and we have a branch website. www.rspca-darlington.org.uk
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

Caring and concerned about how animals are treated, reliable, trustworthy, friendly, fun, team players. Enjoy being around animals. Enjoy being around people of all ages.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

The RSPCA is one of the oldest and most well known animal welfare organisations in the UK.
