At Butterwick Hospice Care, we are serious about volunteering. We have a very strong reputation in terms of volunteering and are proud to have achieved Investors in Volunteers status. We currently have hundreds of volunteers working in a wide range of roles across the organization and are always recruiting further volunteers to help us with a number of projects. We are especially keen to offer meaningful work experience opportunities to students. We understand that employers want to see evidence of work experience in the graduates they recruit. In respect of this, we can offer such opportunities to students wishing to widen their experience in a number of fields – for instance, marketing, PR and graphic design, financial management, project management, ITC systems. The list goes on, Butterwick Hospice Care provides a range of services to those with terminal illnesses and their families. We have an Adults Hospice in Stockton which offers both an In-Patient Unit and a Day Centre; an Adults Day Centre Hospice in Bishop Auckland; a Children’s Hospice in Stockton; a range of out-reach, community and out-of-hours services in addition to wider services such as bereavement and family support. We serve the communities of North Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, and Wearside.
Our aim is to make every day the best it can be for every one of our patients and their families; enabling individuals to maintain their dignity and independence, and families to share precious time together during the hardest days imaginable. We believe that every moment counts and we want to ensure that we can meet our commitment to the community and the people we serve. At Butterwick Hospice Care we can't cure the disease, whether life limiting or terminal, however we can improve the life of those who have that illness and support them to have the best quality of life possible, we all work together to ensure these people feel supported to live the best quality of life they can.
We strive to live by our core values embedding them into our care pathways and services: Care, Compassion, Dignity, Support & Community. With many roles available across all areas of our work opportunities are various and plentiful to suit all interests and experiences.
We believe in Volunteers and Staff working alongside each other, and across all departments. Using, sharing and developing their skills to create a leading organisation. The Hospice has an internal and external training programme which is expanding each year. We ensure we provide outstanding care and extend our reach to meet the increasing demand for our services and ensure our services reflect the diversity of the population we serve.
