Tees Valley Together
The objective of our organisation is the prevention or relief of poverty in the Tees Valley by providing: food, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
ABOUT US:

The projects at Tees Valley together can vary as we are constantly looking at the needs of our local community and how we can best offer support.

Our core services are:

  1. Eco Shop - serving the community to avoid food waste and to support those struggling with feeding their families;
  2. Home from Home - clothing and household items from our home to yours. We sell a variety of clothing and small household goods at affordable prices. We sell items from 20p.

3.Warm welcome wednesday, where anyone can come along and have a hot drink and a snack in a warm, friendly safe space.

     4. Childrens and family activites. We put on activites during the holidays for children and their families including a community day.

Through our projects we build relationships with the local community, we are here with a warm welcome,  a friendly face, a shoulder to cry on or a hot cup of tea. Often the first port of call to anyone needing extra support or just someone to listen.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Many areas of the UK are suffering with poverty and deprivation. We, as an organisation want to support our local community to help alleviate poverty, and where possible help our residents to  live healthy lives. Due to the ever-increasing costs and the current energy crisis our support has never been more important, or needed. The feedback from the families and individuals that we support is that our services are needed, and that they would use us more if we had capacity to provide further services. Tees Valley Together makes a difference to them and we are really proud of that.

OUR VALUES:
Be kind. Treat people how you would want to be treated yourself and treat everyone equally.
THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
Delivered 427 food parcels over three days to residents of Middlesbrough on behalf of Middlesbrough Council. We called this project Middlesbrough Massive. We had three weeks to plan and execute the project and some how managed to get every parcel out. Since opening our Eco Shop in Hemlington in December we have collected 10,257 kg of surplus food and avoided it going to landfill. This is the equivalent of 24,422 meals and has saved 32,822 kg of CO2 going into the atmosphere! During the Covid-19 lockdowns we delivered food parcels on behalf of Public Health via Middlesbrough Council. We are a safe space for our local community We were 5 years old on 26th April 2025 We employ and have volunteers from our local community.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

We are looking for volunteers who are honest, trustworthy and reliable. Being a highly motivated and empathetic individual would also be beneficial.

Having good communications skills and being able to listen and develop effective relationships with people is really important to us as an organisation as you could be the route in for someone seeking support.

We a looking for a variety of volunteer roles, you may like being front of house serving and speaking to customers, would love to help make everyone a warm drink and chat at our warm welcome wednesday sessions or prefer to be behind the scences sorting donations,

just love cleaning or helping us prepare for events. We welcome our volunteers whenever they can make it and there are no requirements in how often or infrequently you can volunteer. We are closed but do work behind the scenes on a Tuesday and are open to the public wednesday till Friday.

We would love for you to pop in and meet us and have a chat.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

At Tees Valley Together we pride ourselves on collaborative working. We feel that together we can achieve more.
