Saltburn Folk Festival is a well established event in a beautiful seaside town on the stunning North Yorkshire coast. We moved to Saltburn-by-the-sea 25 years ago, after three decades a few miles up the coast in Redcar. There was a break for couple of years due to Covid. During that time, responsibility for organising the Festival was passed to a new group of Directors. Fortunately, we retained most of our previous volunteers and were also joined by a few more who wanted to help out for the first time.
We came back from the Covid break with a full-scale live festival in August 2022. The festival brought hundreds of visitors to Saltburn, and provided entertainment for local residents too.
Saltburn is a multi-venue festival featuring singers, musicians, storytellers and dancers from the local area as well as from all over the UK and beyond. We have a mix of free and ticketed concerts and plenty of free outdoor entertainment. We’re a not for profit company, part of our local community, and proud that our festival engages and entertains local people and visitors alike.
Saltburn Folk Festival is a complex live event, requiring a large team of volunteers with a wide variety of skills and interests. Some roles require a year round commitment, such as liaising with performers and venues, planning the campsite and managing our marketing campaign. Other volunteers are needed just for the actual festival period, for example stewards, equipment and furniture movers, and assistants in the festival office. Whatever your availability, and whatever you’d like to do, it’s likely that there’ll be a role for you!
There are very few folk festivals in the Tees Valley, so we're very important to the folk community in our region. We also work closely with the people of Saltburn, providing entertainment entertainment for local residents as well as attracting hundreds of visitors to the town. It's a volunteer festival, but we work to professional standards and get great feedback from artists and audiences alike.
Our Opportunities

Stewards help prepare venues for concerts and workshops, manage entry and provide support for audience members, performers and technical staff. The next Festival will be 8th August 2025.
