YMCA North Tyneside is a Voluntary Sector Organisation undertaking youth and community programme work in areas of North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Teesdale, and Patterdale. We are part of the worldwide YMCA movement, which started in London in 1844 has grown to become the world's largest and oldest youth movement. Now, more than 175 years later, YMCA is operating in 119 countries, with 64 million people reached annually around the world.
YMCA believes in fairness and opportunity. There are essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities. At YMCA, we provide these critical foundations for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life in the community.
YMCA North Tyneside provides opportunities across a host of different industries and locations. The services we provide are available across both densely populated towns, along with rural villages which can offer a completely different experience to volunteering. Our volunteer roles range all the way from IT to gym work. Supporting in our cafes and kitchens; to helping grow fruit and vegetables in our allotments. Aiding nursery staff in caring for babies and toddlers; to working with our community teams in supporting the elderly across our boroughs. This variety in the work we do means there are so many different opportunities available to find a suitable and rewarding volunteer role.
