A relationship with Local Authority staff across a wide section of roles has helped inform the make-up of the TeesstrHive CIC. Those in adoption/fostering teams, schools and social care staff have continued to assist us, alongside the young people we work alongside in many areas, not least the directions we take.
Promoting empathy, self worth and an ‘opt in’ attitude through a programme of community interactions, ‘Strhive’ aims to inspire communication and understanding of the youngsters' place in the world whilst introducing and explaining the wealth of possible experiences, often not available to them due to socioeconomic backgrounds.
We work across Teesside at present. Speaking to both local Mayors and Council leaders we have discussed bringing more youngsters to our events and groups.
Many of the youngsters already open to ‘TeesstrHive CIC’ present with a variety of social and emotional needs, often displaying a lack of confidence, showing signs of anxiety and low mood. We aim to inspire confidence through an introduction to resilient thinking, ownership and responsibility, whilst also improving their communication and social skills during groups/activities. The youngsters’ mental health and wellbeing is supported through having positive role models who actively listen, support and help them.
We look for interesting/interested people !! People with a 'vibe' for life and an enthusiasm for people. A Community builder and an ambassodor for our work are just two of the qualities we look for !!
We don't have a set number of sessions a family can attend. We build relationships and stay in contact as friends long after support may have ended.
