Ormesby Hall - National Trust
As Europe’s largest conservation charity, we look after nature, beauty and history for everyone to enjoy. We do it with the help of members, volunteers, staff and donors. Without this, we couldn’t care for the miles of coastline, woodlands, countryside and the hundreds of historic buildings, gardens and precious collections we protect.
ABOUT US:

Ormesby Hall was the home of the Pennyman family for nearly 400 years. This classic Georgian mansion, with its Victorian kitchen, attractive gardens and estate walks provides a green oasis in the heart of Middlesbrough. Ormesby Hall captures the spirit of the intimate home of Colonel Jim Pennyman, the last of the Pennyman line, and his arts-loving wife Ruth, as well as the stylish legacy of the 18th-century character 'Wicked' Sir James Pennyman - so named because of his extravagant lifestyle and his gambling with the family fortune. Staff and volunteers work together to conserve Ormesby and provide memorable days out to our visitors.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

We are an oasis in the heart of Middlesbrough, ensuring the ongoing conservation of the hall and grounds for future generations. The Pennyman family were part of their local community and we continue that tradition in our current work. By working together, we can continue to ensure the longevity of the hall for the future and ensure that we are accessible to visitors in the present.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

We're looking for people who want to enagage with the heritage of Middlesbrough and bring that to life for our visitors. We want you to be keen to get involved in an area that interests you.
