TASC
To provide care and life skills for the enablement of Adults with Different Abilities.
ABOUT US:

Since 1967, under several different names, Teesside Ability Support Centre has been providing a service for adults with differing abilities. Today, we welcome over 100 Members across our two venues. The main Centre on Acklam Road, Middlesbrough, and a smaller resource in Coulby Newham, The Hub.

Here at TASC it's all about our Members. We get involved in all kinds of activities, from building a model of the Transporter Bridge, to raising money for charities like Children in Need, to ice skating in our wheelchairs! Our wonderful sensory room provides different ways to relax, exercise, chill out and have different kinds of therapy.

We even have our own tuck shop, which we run ourselves.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Some quotes from TASC Members and their carers:

“I come here to chat and socialise”,

“I love it here”,

“I like chatting with the staff”,

“I like TASC because I can use computers and the internet”,

“I like working in Candy Bar, our tuck shop, it keep me busy. I enjoy doing the cashing up at the end of the day”

"What strikes us the most is how wonderful and professional the escorts male and female are, come rain, snow they are still happy in what they do. Well done, good luck for many years to come."

"Couldn't be happier with all you do in the Centre. All the staff are lovely and approachable "

"The staff in the unit are really friendly, helpful and approachable. My staff team are new to this service but have all commented on how nice TASC staff are and have made them welcome"

As well as all the great feedback we get from the members, our Enablers play a valuable role in the health and wellbeing of our members from providing sensory input, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, real world experiences and many more opportunities.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

The TASC philosophy is centred around the Members and what works for them and the community. We work as a cooperative, and the members always have a big say in what we do. That said, we're constantly striving to achieve the most for the Centre, and a major part of that is the drive and passion of our visionary carers, volunteers, fundraising teams, and the Executive Committee, who give freely of their time to breathe new life into the centre on a regular basis.
