Teesside Mind
We are Teesside's Leading Mental Health Charity. We believe everyone has the right to enjoy good mental health and have access to the best possible care and services. Volunteering is a great way to help others, learn new skills and connect with like minded people. It is also a great way to build your own confidence and give something back to the local community. Volunteers are a key part of the team here and we work hard to ensure that all our volunteers have an enjoyable and rewarding experience whilst with us.
ABOUT US:

Since 1985 we've been helping people in Teesside to take care of their mental health.  We're committed to working with every community and indivudual across Middlesbrough and Stockton to make sure they can access support to imporove their emotional wellbeing.

We're a member of the National Mind Network and work within the Quality Standards of Mind, but all our work is delivered locally.  We work with over 10,000 people in Teesside every year.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Every year one in four of us will experience a mental health problem.  We believe no one should have to face this alone.  We listen, give support and advice, and never judge.

We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem in Teesside gets the help and respect they deserve.

OUR VALUES:
CARING - We genuinely care about local people and the work that we do to support them. We treat people with the respect and dignity they deserve.
PROFESSIONAL - All our staff and volunteers are skilled in the work they do and are supported by us. We're constantly working to ensure our environment is safe and beneficial to you.
TRUSTWORTHY - People trust us with their personal stories. We appreciate this isn’t easy and are grateful for people’s confidence in us. We take confidentiality very seriously.
DETERMINED - We’re committed to finding the best support for you. We can tailor our services to meet your needs as we know finding help for mental health issues can be difficult. If we can't help you, we'll find the right support from other local organisations.
WELCOMING - It can be difficult to ask for help and there’s still much stigma associated with mental health. When people come to us for support, our response is warm and welcoming. Our staff and volunteers are helpful and friendly. We don’t judge people.
OUR AWARDS:
2023 Cleveland Police Force - Community Organisation Gold Award
2023 Cleveland Police Force - Volunteer of the Year Gold Award
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

Our people are what makes this organisation so special. There are over 200 people working here at Teesside Mind.

Some are front line providing services and some work behind the scenes making things happen, some are paid members of staff and some selflessly volunteer, but all are dedicated, passionate individuals committed to helping others.

We want our workforce to truly reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the people we exist to support.

Our team relies heavily on volunteers to support their work and each volunteer adds real value to everything we do.
