Trinity Youth and Children's Project (TYCP)
Trinity Youth and Children's Project is here to help young people growing up in North Ormesby and their families flourish. North Ormesby can be a tough neighbourhood to grow up. According to official statistics 64% of children live in poverty. We seek to offer a safe and nurturing environment where they may grow in confidence and learn life skills.
ABOUT US:

We have been working in North Ormesby since 1998 and have become a staple in the community. We are located in the heart of North Ormesby allowing us to connect with all those who call it home. We work with ages 0-17, adults and run our own community cafe.

Throughout the week we run multiple children clubs, a toddlers & parents group and multiple youth groups. We also run trips and open days throughout the school holidays, as well as, our annual community celebrations.

We run a parents and childrens group every Monday known as Stay and Play. This session allows children a safe environment to play and learn, a place for parents to engage with others in the community and to access additional support if needed.

Our community cafe is open every Tuesday morning and allows members of the community a warm space to socialise and allows us to tackle social isolation many people living in North Ormesby face.

We also run a toddlers and parents group allowing a safe and nuturing environment for the children, and a space for parents to engage with each other, form new friendships and support groups as well as engaging with our trained staff.

We run a family cooking session each wednesday to allow families a chance to make fun memories and learn new recipies whilst also trying new foods and ingredients.

Our Wednesday youth session allows young people aged 10-17 a space to call their own. We run numerous games, crafting activities, sports and occasional trips. Each session ends with a cooked meal for all the young people. Our aim to provide a safe space for our youth to make new friends, share new experiences and grow as people.

We recently have started a sporting group for children aged 5-9 and their parents. This group aims to have children and adults become more active not just at our sessions but also in their own time as well.

Finally, we run our Thursday cookery youth session where the youth are given the opportunity to cook meals and other food items to take home to share with friends and family. We also run cooking lessons aimed at teaching our youth to become more independent and try new things.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

North Ormesby has always featured high in the national multi-deprevation reports and obesity reports. This shows a clear need for support which many in the community struggle to access. Our goal is to help support these vunerable families whilst allowing them to feel cared for and supported. Our work allows us to ease the burden a lot of those we interact with face on a daily basis. By working with families as a whole, we hope to be able to improve the lives of those living in North Ormesby presently and in the future.
