St Hilda's Parent and toddler group has been running for 2 years, it has became a safe space for many mums in the community to attend with their children and has became part of their support network. With the help of Thrive at Five we have started to introduce more structure to the group, and help volunteers with their confidence. This group is thriving but still needs a early years professional to come help this group take the next step.
Parent and toddler groups are not just for the children but also the parents, it provides a safe space for them to express their worries and concerns either around their child or other aspects of their life. Whilst also be a space to encourage childrens development and parent role modelling. It also is an opportunity for those who cant afford childcare to have a space to help with their childs routine, to aid in their school readiness.
Someone who is non judgement, warm, who can communicate with parents and childrens. Someone who can work with existing volunteers and help encourage the group to progress further. Someone with Early years background/knowledge to bring their expertise to the space and place.
Parent focused, ask the parents for active engagement in the running of the group. PArents stay after their children have grown to help the running of the group. Big community focus.
