Green Library (Teesside University Library)
Teesside University Library is just one of hundreds of libraries who have signed the CILIP Green Libraries Manifesto as part of the Green Libraries Campaign. Here at Teesside we aim to work with these pledges to provide informative events, provide opportunities for students, work with local community agencies, encourage sound environmental practice and proactive 'green' work.
ABOUT US:

Teesside University Library is just one of hundreds of libraries who have signed the CILIP Green Libraries Manifesto as part of the Green Libraries Campaign. Here at Teesside we aim to work with these pledges to provide informative events, provide opportunities for students, work with local community agencies, encourage sound environmental practice and proactive 'green' work.  As part of this work we have created a Teesside University Green Library website, where we provide advice on positive environmental action, provide information on local green spaces and advocate Teesside University's environmental responsibilities through the Green Tees action. In addition, the Green Library has organised multiple student engagement activities to talk to students about their environmental responsibilities, encourage volunteering and the well-being benefits of 'ecotherapy'. Our Green Library has also delivered a number of conference presentations to other academic librarians extolling the work of the Green Library campaign.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

The ‘Green Libraries Manifesto’, signed by Teesside University Library, is set of seven principles to encourage and grow environmental initiatives across local communities. These are:

  • Bring environmental sustainability to the heart of decision-making
  • Innovate and evolve
  • Work with our communities
  • Use our voice for more impact
  • Work in partnership
  • Grow and share our knowledge
  • Support young people
