Vincent (Student Volunteer) and Angela from the Volunteering Team recently visited RDA Unicorn Centre to hand over £243 which was raised from the £1 Clothing Sale, which took place at the end of October.
We had a great visit – Joan from the Centre showed us around which Vincent enjoyed very much as he is a Masters student and is currently modelling a game involving horses so, as well as meeting the horses and ponies, we were able to watch how the horses moved around the arena from a walk, trot and canter and Vincent took some video footage to help him develop his game.
Vincent was very impressed with how the Riding Centres in the UK accommodate young people with physical and learning disabilities and how supportive the centre are of the community and it’s volunteers, that he has been inspired to apply for a volunteering role at the centre, firstly mucking out the horses, but in time and with training, he will get to lead the horses and riders which is great.
