People and Planet
People & Planet are pleased to announce we are recruiting volunteer sustainability researchers to help us compile the People & Planet University League 2021:
These voluntary posts would be for three weeks in July or August 2021 and we believe they would provide valuable experience for anyone who wants to start a career in sustainability, NGO work, environmental management, research and campaigning among many others.

Volunteering Awards
We are unable to hold our annual Volun-cheers Awards this year which is extremely disappointing. We do however want to ensure that all students volunteering receive their recognition from the University. PLEASE REMEMBER TO RECORD YOUR HOURS OF VOLUNTEERING! You can do this by:
- Submitting hours monthly – this will make it easier for you to record your hours and also help the organisations verify your hours quickly. Just make sure that you include the dates/time (or preferably a timesheet document) with your hours so the person verifying your hours can confirm these.
- Submitting retrospective hours – any hours of volunteering completed whilst you were a student at Teesside University will count towards the awards. Please contact your approver to discuss to confirm that these will be verified.
- Check your record on Volun-tees. Remember – you can share your achievements with future employers by adding your link to your CV/LinkedIn etc. So make sure that your information is a) up to date b) completed and c) makes you sound great!
In order to ensure that you receive your volunteering certificate – it is really important that you submit your hours of volunteering as soon as possible. We will be writing out to all students who have submitted their hours to ask if you wish to have a PDF copy of your award emails to you.
From those students who have submitted hours of volunteering, we will look to see who would be shortlisted for our outstanding volunteers awards. These are:
Outstanding Volunteer of the Year
Academic School – Volunteer of the Year (one per school)
International Volunteer of the Year
Students’ Union Volunteer of the Year
Gold Award

Daisy Chain – Employability Support for Autistic students/graduates
Daisy Chain are a charity based in Stockton. Wellbeing services include:
1-2-1 and group-based support
daily wellbeing strategies to manage anxiety
groups to connect with others and build confidence
support strategies and alternative therapy e.g. aromatherapy, crystals
You must be an autistic or neurodivergent young person/adult aged 15 or over.
Those who self-identify as neurodivergent are welcome – no formal diagnosis necessary.
You must be ready to explore your personal wellbeing.

Our online shop office hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday. Time commitment and availability can be discussed and agreed with the Shop Manager. Where possible, we ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of two hours per week.
