The volunteering team had the pleasure of visiting The Hope Foundation and witnessed firsthand the amazing work of this organisation and the difference it makes to those who attend. The Volunteer Coordinator, Trish Connor, gave us a warm welcome and we loved learning about all the activities and how volunteers help this charity to thrive.

Hope has been here for people in Middlesbrough since 1995, providing opportunities for learning, access to technology, careers advice, volunteering opportunities and support. The aims are to reduce disadvantage, loneliness and isolation and help people recognise their potential – because they matter. With Hope’s help many local people have gained skills and qualifications, become volunteers, found employment, and made friends for life.

The onsite café serves delicious affordable meals throughout the day. It is a hive of activity where smiles are in abundance. There is always so much going on, from community healthy hearts, learning, wellbeing activities, centre for warmth initiatives, digital learning, and access to amazing facilities.

Hope fully support volunteering and providing those opportunities to help gain essential skills and experiences to help with those career aspirations. We are over the moon to have Hope on the Volun-tees platform and know our students will be fully supported on their volunteering journey.

Look at the two opportunities on offer. Hope are looking for people who are willing to try new things, keen to gain experience in a variety of areas, who are able to communicate effectively with people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. Most of all they are looking for people who care about others.
