What You'll Do: 

Accountability:  Deputy Head of Retail and Head of Retail  

Location:  Various across Teesside – Acklam, Coulby Newham, Eston, Guisborough, Marske, Redcar, Skelton, Stokesley,  Linthorpe Road, Saltburn, Great Ayton, Thornaby, Yarm, and online.

Time Commitment: Our shops are generally open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday. Time commitment and availability can be discussed and agreed with the Shop Manager. Where possible, we ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of two hours per week.

DBS Check needed? No

Age Requirements: From 14 years old plus

What You'll Learn: 
Want to make a real difference? Become a Volunteer Retail Assistants in one of our shops! The volunteer role will assist in the day to day running of the Teesside Hospice Shops, with the purpose of maximising sales and profitability. There are a number of different roles in each of our charity shops. You may prefer to concentrate on one aspect of the shop or you might rather have some variety during your shift. The Shop Manager will discuss this with you and provide training and support. Retail Assistant volunteers will: Assist and serve customers, providing a high standard of customer service. Help promote Gift Aiding of donated goods with shop donors. Help with stock processing, including sorting, steaming, hanging and pricing of donated goods Carry out cash handling tasks and use of the cash tills. Actively sell Hospice lottery/lucky dip tickets when on the till Carry out general shop floor duties to ensure the shop is kept clean and tidy Be able to work independently and as part of a team. Act as an ambassador for Teesside Hospice and promote the service. The above list is not exhaustive, and volunteers may be asked to take on other tasks to support and assist the smooth running of the Shop.
