Support people living with dementia to engage in meaningful group activities. Help create a welcoming, inclusive environment through social connection, conversation, and creativity.

What You'll Do: 

As a Dementia Activity Group Volunteer, you will help deliver structured group sessions for people living with dementia in community settings. Your role will involve:

  • Greeting attendees warmly and helping them settle in
  • Offering drinks and friendly conversation
  • Supporting group members to participate in activities
  • Encouraging inclusion, especially for those who may be quieter or need extra reassurance
  • Leading a small activity or helping with themed sessions, if interested
  • Assisting with general session tasks, such as taking the register
  • Occasionally supporting carers with a listening ear or feeding back any concerns to the team

Each session is designed around Cognitive Stimulation Therapy principles and aims to provide mental stimulation, social engagement, and joy.

What We're Looking For: 
We’re looking for someone who is: Kind, patient, and enjoys spending time with older people Comfortable engaging in conversation and encouraging others to participate Reliable and able to give 90–120 minutes per week Open to learning about dementia and how it affects each person differently Respectful of others’ dignity and confidentiality If you have a particular interest or skill (e.g. art, music, storytelling, crafts), we’d love for you to share it – but this is by no means required.
