The opportunity to travel with HCPT 710 as a Volunteer Helper to Lourdes in France - Easter 2024. Travelling for a week, 710 support the Pilgrimage and assist in ensuring the children who are taken have the best week.

What You'll Do:

The week revolves around the children, whilst we never knoe what we will end up doing until just before we go, the below is a rough idea of jobs we get involved in:

  • airport duty - assisting groups with children on to the coaches and to the hotels
  • setting up the activity areas, shop and closing at the end of the week
  • working in the activity areas
  • setting up masses
  • support with music in masses
  • marshalling and leading events
  • supporting family groups
  • other jobs to assist with the running of the week
Why You'll Love It:
A week with HCPT in Lourdes is an incredible experience, even for those who may not share the Catholic faith, the feeling of being involved and to know you are making a difference to the Children that we take each year and to be part of a team all geared towards the same goal.
What You'll Learn:
You'll learn all the key skills - team work, communication etc. Along with this you will learn how to care for children with disibilities, safeguarding procedures and many other skills.   You will also get the chance to learn about yourself, the week is lifechanging for the children we take, but can also have a profound inpact on helpers.
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for anyone who would be enthusiastic about joining 710 and being part of an amazing week. We provide all training/DBS etc ahead of the trip so you dont need to come with skills but we would ask that you have an interest in helping others, are willing to travel to Lourdes on Good Friday 2025 for a week as well as a prep weekend in early 2025.   Note: the Children we take are funded by groups, with there being a cost for helpers to travel. The cost indicated above is a maximum and would include all travel/hotel/food for the week. Its worth noting that there are grants available from various places which can bring this down and fundraising can be carried out to reduce your fare further. We also have the option of subsidising students aswell, so if you are keen to travel but are unsure due to the cost then please get in touch!
