Do you enjoy being out in nature and walking? Contribute your time supporting us to run walks in the local area. Supporting members and sharing lived experience to build on the community that prevents barriers and improves well being.
What You'll Do:
- Volunteers are encouraged to share vulnerabilities and shared lived experiences to build trust and provide peer support.
- Communication and resource sharing and liaising with the engagement team to offer sign posting where necessary.
- Supporting the well-being and morale of those accessing services.
- Ensuring adaptations and accommodations are communicated
- Passing on information and research
Why You'll Love It:
Our organisation offers a sense of community and family where everyone including our members contribute peer support and share experiences. Our groups can be wholesome and offer a rewarding experience.
Other benefits include:
Routine
Improve physical health
Friendship
Improve your own well being and mental health
Be a part of a community
What You'll Learn:
Within both our well-being and engagement teams, we have hands-on but flexible opportunities to support Autistic, ADHD and people with other neurodivergence. Due to the arrangement and perspectives of our organisation our service users are able to feel valued and authentic, allowing for a wholesome and rewarding workplace. With community at the heart of Tees Valley Buddies, it allows for a comfortable and enjoyable environment.
Neurodivergent people, specifically, have the opportunity to develop skills in an adaptable and inclusive space designed to meet the needs surrounding neurodivergence. We encourage and support Authenticity in volunteers and staff members as much as we do those accessing our services.
What We're Looking For:
Individuals with lived experience:
Neurodivergence: Autistic, Dyslexia, ADHD, Tourettes, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia, OCD
LGBTQIA+
Mental Health
And more.
We're primarily looking for someone who can support in the running of our Wallk and Talk sessions: Thursdays, Saturdays and additional one off days over the summer.
Thursdays: Stewarts Park, Mbro
Saturdays: Redcar, Guisborough Walkway
Neurodivergence or lived experience with our related causes and issues affecting people would be ideal. Let us know your story, I'm sure people can relate.
We are looking to build on a dedicated and passionate team with people that are empathetic and open to holding space for a wide variety of Autistic, ADHD people and people with other neurodivergence such as Tourettes, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia etc.
