We are looking for volunteers to work alongside a Lead Youth Worker on our HAF young inspectors programme, funded by Middlesbrough Council. You will help to train young people to become young inspectors and also be a part of the inspections.

What You'll Do:

The young people are taken to different children and youth provisions during school holidays who have been funded by the Holiday and Activity Fund, to make sure the provisions are delivering fun and enriching activities for the young people who are accessing them; are keeping to set health and safety and food standards and providing a good standard of physical activity. The young people also identify training needs for the programme, most noticeably the sports delivery and food standards.

You will come along to the inspections with the lead youth worker, where you will help and encourage the young inspectors to ask different questions to the staff and the children in the provision and to record what they observe during their inspections in their reports.

Why You'll Love It:
You will have the chance to meet many new people and organisations across Middlesbrough and Redcar and see how each organisation runs their provisions differently. You will be able to see how youth work is different, but also very similar across multiple organisations.
What You'll Learn:
How to safeguard young people How to work effectively with others including a range of stakeholders Time Keeping  Communication Skills How to support young people using youth work principles Health and safety requirements of the HAF programme Possible introduction into youth work
