Student Volunteering Week is a national week, led by the Student Volunteering Network, which takes place across the UK. Universities and schools across the country step up to take part in the week, organising opportunities or events to encourage their students to volunteer and help their local communities. As part of National Student Volunteering Week at Teesside, we are holding a Volunteering Fair on Tuesday 13 February – 11.00 – 1.30 pm, Ground Floor SLB.

RDA Unicorn Centre
The Unicorn Centre, a registered charity, is a purpose-built riding for the disabled facility which offers riding therapy and learning and training opportunities for over 150 disabled adults and children from the Tees Valley area each week. Opened in 1998, the Centre has become an established part of the local community, with a strong contingent of local volunteers who assist with riding lessons each week. The Centre works across the spectrum of disabilities, age range, social status, and environments. Our focus is to ensure that everyone is given the chance to derive a direct therapeutic benefit and the opportunity to achieve their full potential. The Unicorn Centre is a natural fit for volunteers who have experience in horses and ponies but there are lots of different tasks to be done – many of which do not involve horses. Commitment and a can-do attitude, willing to get involved with all aspects of the Centre.

FareShare Northeast
We work in partnership with the UK's largest food redistribution charity, FareShare UK, to source and redistribute quality, good-to-eat surplus food, which would otherwise have gone to waste. We are fighting hunger and tackling food waste one step at a time by turning an environmental problem into a social solution. As well as the food, the organisations we supply provide vital support to those who are vulnerable and facing economic hardship.

We are a Northern League Division Two Club playing at Step 6. Home games are currently in Stokesley but we are progressing in our mission to get back to Billingham. Cleveland Police Volunteers
The Cleveland Police area covers approximately 230 square miles and has a population of around 560,000 people. The force was formed in 1974 as the successor to the Teesside Constabulary and the York and Northeast Yorkshire Police. It also took over part of Durham Constabulary. The force area is the country's second smallest geographically. All our staff, officers and volunteers are expected to always adhere to the strictest of standards at all times.

Roseberry Community Consortium
Roseberry Community provides education, support, and outreach activities to disadvantaged groups of young people across the Tees Valley region. We focus on music, singing and dancing, keep fit, neurodiversity, anti-bullying techniques, martial arts, and revision classes for school curriculum. We have over 150 young people and children every month joining our activities and session. We are looking for volunteers who can give time to help and support running the charity.

Locomotion Museum
Visit us in Shildon, County Durham and you can marvel at iconic locomotives and watch engineering work in progress in the Workshop. Open all year around we attract around 200,000 visitors a year and thousands of school groups. We host large family events and major touring exhibits. We are currently looking for engaging, friendly and reliable volunteers to help inspire the next generation.

Heugh Battery Museum
The Heugh Battery Museum tells the story of the Bombardment of the Hartlepool’s, which took place on Wednesday 16th December 1914, when the guns of the Heugh Battery and neighbouring Lighthouse Battery were engaged in ship-to-shore combat with the German navy. We are currently looking to recruit friendly volunteers to be on hand to help visitors understand more about the objects on display.
